ABSTRACT

Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) is one of the treatment options for renal and upper ureteric calculus; however, the outcome depends on multiple factors. Our study aims to evaluate the factors that may inuence ESWL outcomes in Indian patients with upper urinary tract calculi. Between 2018 and 2020, a total of 300 adult patients who underwent ESWL for renal and upper ureteral calculus sizing 5 to 20 mm were included in the study program. Patients with

ABSTRACT

A 22 years old male presented with a mass over the penis since birth, which was painless and gradually increasing in size. The mass was excised and it was found to be penile epidermal cyst. Epidermal cyst is one of the most common benign tumors occurring in the body, which commonly occurs either congenitally or following trauma or surgery, where the epidermal elements get trapped within closed space. But here this case had no trauma and surgeries in the past and the mass present since birth-a case of congenital penile epidermal cyst.

ABSTRACT

Colovesical fistula is a rare disease which has abnormal communication between the colon and urinary bladder, and it is most commonly caused by diverticular disease. A 25-year-old male was presented with recurrent episodes of dysuria since last 3 yearrs. Further examination revealed that he had associated bowel complaints of frequent stools and intermittent loose stools, which further subsided on taking antibiotics. Colonoscopy was performed which revealed inflamed colonic mucosa. The Biopsy was taken from the concerned region which suggested chronic nonspecific inflammation. Medical management can be considered in patients with colovesical fistula who are willing for long term surveillance.

ABSTRACT

Hinman syndrome or non-neurogenic neurogenic bladder is a rare clinical condition which is characterized by non-neurogenic urinary bladder dysfunction. It is a diagnosis of exclusion and patient presents with characteristics of a neurogenic bladder with external sphincter dyssynergia but without evidence of any neurologic alteration. The underlying pathology is not known. Bladder training and medical treatment have been recognized as effective management. However, when there is established damage to the upper urinary system or chronic renal failure, surgery is preferred over conservative treatment. Due to the low incidence of the disease, there is still no consensus for the most adequate treatment or management. We report the case of a pediatric patient presented with recurrent retention of urine with dysfunctional voiding and compromised renal functions. As patient already presented with upper urinary tract damage hence underwent successful surgical treatment for the same.

ABSTRACT

Hydatid cyst is a parasitic disease caused by the tapeworm Echinococcus granulosus. Hydatid cyst disease mostly involves the liver and the lung, while renal involvement is rare. Hydatid disease may present in unusual ways and lead to diagnostic diffi culty and management problems. A high index of suspicion for hydatid disease should be maintained while evaluating complex cystic renal masses. Herein we present an interesting case who was diagnosed to have a simple renal cyst on contrast-enhanced computed tomogram, which turned out to be a renal hydatid cyst. Despite modern imaging methods, isolated renal hydatid disease might still cause diagnostic dilemma and hydatid cysts can be found in unusual localization. Th is case was managed laparoscopically.
